Ana Margarida Esteves is a portuguese designer, who embraces the silver lining between art and design and believes in the power of design to inspire and connect us with nature and natural beauty. Her passion for blending art and design into functional yet poetic concepts is fueled by a deep appreciation for diverse cultures,  their rich heritages and closure to nature. 

 

Ana's journey began with a commitment to teaching and promoting resourcefulness, an endeavor that took her to East Timor after completing her studies in product design in Portugal. It was there that Ana's first art project abroad ignited a spark of creativity that would inspire her for years to come. 

 

Determined to pursue her artistic vision, Ana ventured to the UK, where she specialized in furniture design and honed her skills in working with various materials. Her passion for wood, in particular, has led her to create unique and innovative designs.

 

For Ana, design is more than just a profession; it is a way of living. Through her work, she seeks to inspire others to appreciate the beauty and diversity of the world, to embrace differences and celebrate them. With each new creation, Ana invites us to connect with the world around us, to see its potential for beauty and purpose, and to be inspired to make a difference in everyone's lives and her own community by creating sustainable opportunities with her projects. 

 

Since 2019, Ana has been residing in India, where she actively participates in various sustainable initiatives. Goa, in particular, has become her home, as she shares a deep connection with the local culture, especially their respect and love for the sea. 

 

Ana is the founder of Mar Salgado, which means "salted sea" in Portuguese. Through this project, she aims to inspire people to view nature in a new light by creating unique products from raw materials such as driftwood, abandoned wood, dried coconut husk, and molten metals. 

 

She designs her products to highlight their imperfections, making them even more beautiful. Mar Salgado is a testament to Ana's commitment to sustainability and her passion for designing functional and artistic products that evoke a sense of connection to nature.
